Dear Liza,
I must admit that I’m not really a fan of Twitter. I find I get more discouraged than inspired and more stressed than relieved (most of the time). However, one of the good things that has come from participating in this particular social network is you.
Yes, you.
Simply put, you are amazing! If I wanted to break the writing rules I’d throw in all the extra adjectives (at least I hope their adjectives! *schedules grammar class*): wonderful, kind, supportive, inspirational, motivational, humble, talented, brilliant, and all the synonyms of aforementioned words.
Let’s chat that for just a second.
First, Twitter. I met you there so I can’t help but mention that you are a Twitter goddess. And even though I know this, I am still blown away by how many people you are able to follow and follow well! You make so many feel important and noticed. I don’t feel like I’m just one of thousands when I interact with you. I feel like one of one–like you are setting aside the whole world to make time for me. Thank you.
Then there’s your blog: Liza Kane — Redeeming the Time. LOVE it! I love how I always leave feeling uplifted and ready to face the next challenge. I love that you find the awesome in everything, even challenges. I love that you are consistently rising above whatever is happening in your life and in your writing. You acknowledge it, analyze it, and find a way to make yourself (and others!) a better person for it. Thank you for sharing candidly your thoughts, experiences and feelings.
And finally you’re writing. Not blogging (which I’ve already established is awesome), but your actual, honest-to-grandma novel writing. I am in LOVE! I know I’ve used that word a lot already. But it’s a good word so I’ll keep it. I know not every book is for every person, but I can’t get enough of Scrap Metal! The way you draw me in and weave a world that I don’t just see, but can feel and experience is incredible. INCREDIBLE! I love your words. I love your writing. And I look forward to the day I can hold your book in my hands.
These are but a few of the many ways in which you share your awesomeness and talent with others. Your willingness to chat writing, editing, books, and (especially) life blesses all those who know you. I love my emails or comments from you on losing weight, setting goals, and achieving dreams. I cherish them and, more importantly, I cherish the person who sent them.
So Liza, thank you for being amazing. Thank you for being you. And for those who haven’t met you yet, I’d encourage them to say hi. (I promise she doesn’t bite!)
Thank you, my friend, for everything!
Hugs,
D.B. Smyth
